    Hello,

I received a letter 3 days ago from an attorney's office in my city trying to collect a 7 year old credit card debt for about $4,000. It looks like they are getting ready to sue since they hired a local attorney. This is not even in my credit reports anymore. My questions are these:

    1. It is past the statute of limitations (6 years in my state). Should I let them know or should I validate first.

    2. Anybody has a sample letter to use for such validation?

    3. Should I hire an attorney too to inform them of the statute of limitations?

    Thank you!

LET THEM WASTE MONEY FILING. WHEN YOU'RE SERVED, FILE YOUR RESPONSE AS PAST SOL. IT SHOULD BE DISMISSED. PLEASE WAIT FOR OTHERS TO REPLY. THIS IS JUST WHAT I WOULD DO.

P.S.---IT'S PROBABLY A BLUFF ANYWAYS. DON'T SWEAT IT.

So you think I should not send a validation letter right now so at least they can send me something (if they have anything) that proves it is past the SOL? I have no information on it except that it should be more than 7 years old.

    Thanks!

Thank you! I will send the normal validation letter from the archive and see what happens.
