Hi again. I got a copy of my EQ report 2/11/03. There was a collection listed on it that was not there before when I got my report on 1/9/03. It says "collection reported 9/00." Why wasn't this on the report the month before if it hasn't been reported since then? Saturday I got another copy of EQ and there is yet another (different) collection item showing up that wasn't there 2/11/03. This item was last reported 9/02. I could be missing something, but it isn't making any sense.
The CRA's notify the CA's when there is activity on your report. As to the dates - they do crap like that, no real explanation. When you start your serious cleanup they come out of the woodwork.
I believe that it costs money for creditors to report, so maybe they don't bother until they see some activity from you and construe that as an interest to make good on your debt.
I see lawsuit fodder. a) Information on file; sources; report recipients. Every consumer reporting agency shall, upon request, and subject to 610(a)(1) [§ 1681h], clearly and accurately disclose to the consumer: (1) All information in the consumer's file at the time of the request, except that nothing in this paragraph shall be construed to require a consumer reporting agency to disclose to a consumer any information concerning credit scores or any other risk scores or predictors relating to the consumer.
Thank you for your thoughts. Here's the low down: 1/27-sent RMA settlement letter for old phone bill. Never heard back from them. Credit report on 2/11 shows a collection listed from RMA (different addy and ph#) for a repo in 1997. Date reported-9/00. This is not on my first EQ report dated 1/9/02. 1/13-sent Mid States Financial validation letter for ER services insurance denied-2 accounts. Never heard back from them. My report dated 2/28 has another collection account from Mid States Financial (making 3 total) that was reported 9/02. This was not on my previous 2 reports. Who is doing this? If it was the CA wouldn't the "collection reported" date be different? Yet if it is Equifax why would they not list EVERYTHING on the report the first time (or the first two for that matter)? It does not make sense. I had a different medical collection account deleted by a CA saying they could not validate, then another one shows up out of the blue, clear sky negating the good news.
