Has anyone ever had any experience with them? I received a phone call 6 months ago about an old phone bill that I supposedly owed money on. I was told if I paid it off, it would be deleted off of my report. I should have asked them to verify it as being my debt, but I did not. Of course, it is still on my report and they refuse to take it off. I just called them telling them what was promised and the person I originally talked to ironically is not working there anymore. I know I made a mistake by not asking for something in writing, but I cannot do anything about that now. Is there anything I can do now? The 7 years on this falls off in December, but I would like it off now, if possible. Thanks for your help.
Yes, I talked to a 'supervisor' and she said that her notes did not state that is was to be deleted. She also stated that it is their company policy to delete things, which is obviously BS since that is what was promised. I told her, "why would I agree to pay something without asking for verification and only one year left before falling off of my credit report." Her answer was, "because you owed it". I am not saying I did not owe it. I may have, I am not sure, but the thing that bothers me is the fact I was told (I know....not in written form) that they would delete it.
They lie to coerce payment all the time. You have no evidence of the promise. You can ask for validation, but they are not obligated to do that either since the debt is paid. I dunno what to suggest other than keep disputing with the CRAs. Can you think of any FDCPA violations?
I am not familiar enough with the regulations, but I assume they have me. I was stupid for agreeing to do it, but since they called me at work, I wanted to get them off of the phone as soon as possible and not get bothered again. Anyway, if anyone has any suggestions, please let me know, if not, i guess I will have to wait until December for it to fall off. Thans Queenbee for your responses.
