As a condition of a refi last fall the lender insisted that our loan include payment of a medical collection erroneously listed on my spouse's credit report. Fine. Today I find that according to the collection agency this collection was never paid ($134) and we still owe it! Yet, we sure as heck paid it on our own loan! I don't have access to my files at home right now to find the original closing statement, etc. but this cheeses me off. I can't send the cancelled check as they request to prove payment - the lender presumably took care of this. I have since explained this problem six ways from Sunday with everybody at the lending institution and "they'll get back to me." I want an ANSWER da@#it! I need a foolproof system beyond a big yellow envelope for tracking paid in full accounts and things. I have had this happen before were some old credit account from 1000 years ago suddenly is listed as an open line when I know I sent correspondence to close it or whatever but who can remember what year/file/cabinet it's in??? Aaarggh!!!
