I was looking over a new credit report from CSC that my son just received and under the public sections where bankruptcies, judgments, etc are listed, there's a collection listed. It's listed like the following:

    COLLECTION
    Date Reported: 08/2009
    Date Assigned: 03/2005
    Collection Agency: CA
    Original Creditor: CC company
    Original Amount: 35K
    Current Balance: 60K
    1st Deliq Date: 02/2003
    Classification: BANKING
    Balance Date: 08/2009
    Status Date: 08/2009
    Last Paid Date:
    ECOA: I
    Account: *****
    Status: Unpaid
    Comments: None

First time I've seen a collection under the Public Records section. Anyone have experience with this? Why would it be listed there? What's the ECOA field? edited--found that this means individual responsibility.

The CA and original creditor are not listed anywhere else on his three credit reports.

No--there was never a judgment filed for this account.

    Thanks for help on this.

Dispute it through EQ/CSC. They're notorious for misclassifications of account types.
