Hi - I just got my credit reports and all 3 show there is an old collection from a cable company from 6 yrs. ago for only $52. Although I don't believe this to be a relevant charge, am I better off just paying it to get it off my report rather than fighting it? If I pay a collectible account, should I expect my rating to increase? Significantly or only by a few points? This is the only collection I have on the report. Thanks in advance!
What did they do: Continue to charge you for a month after you moved and terminated service, or charge you for a cable box you returned?
That's the problem, I'm not really sure. I seem to remember something about being double charged for installation.
At 6 years, it may be that the effect of the account is negligible, whether paid or not, and at 7 years it is off. Is there any reason the 647 would be lower? Are there other negative entries, or is this account listed differently?
