A lot of CA's do it, and the FTC admits when callers question it that they know that they are doing it, and that it is illegal, however, until enough consumers call complaints in to the FTC that they feel that they have a strong enough case on the companies, the FTC doesn't persue the complaints. It took probably more than 600 complaints against NCO for the FTC to take action against them. This number is just based on doing the math of $1.5 million divided by $2,500; and since this was the settlement amount, there probably was a whole lot more complaints than that, possibly as high as ten times that amount. This should give you an idea as to how many complaints that it takes to get any action taken. This is also why they advise consumers to take private action against the CA's, instead of waiting around for them to be able to take action.
Thanks! So, tell me how should I proceed in getting Sherman on a violation and/or to delete? Any suggestions?
Yes, I sent VL and No Lic No Bond pls delete letter. I have not heard back yet. Its been about 10 days since I sent the letters.
Re: Re: Collection reported as Installment I got the green card back for the VL. But, not the No Lic, No Bond pls. delete letter.
Re: Re: Re: Collection reported as Installment I f you don't get the Val after 30days from when they signed the card send the CA the estoppel letter!
Re: Re: Re: Collection reported as Installment and dispute it with the CRA *NOW*, if they verify it before providing validation (Sherman probably will), they've violated.
Re: Re: Re: Collection reported as Installment Thanks!!! I will do that right now! Oh, How do I dispute it?
Re: Re: Re: Collection reported as Installment They haven't provided you with proof that it is your account, yet; nor did you ever request an installment account with Sherman, did you? Not mine, I have never had an account with <COMPANY>. Send it via mail CMRRR.
