There is a company that says I owe them commissions for a sale they helped me complete. There was not a contract, never anything I signed and was nothing more than a generalized verbal agreement...well, more of a demand they dictated. When I did not pay, they turned me over to a CA who is calling me and say they are reporting me to Experian. What should I do? Obviously they would be unable to validate. Please advise. Thanks.
Did you, in "any way" agree to give them a cut of the commissions? Whether or not they "demanded" or "dictated" it, doesn't matter. If you caved in and "agreed", it may hold up in court. You need to get something worked out before the CA gets ahold of your credit report. Send them a validation letter and try to work something out with the company in the mean time. *Note* You even stated that there was a generalized "verbal agreement". If asked by a judge if there was an agreement, you'd have to say "yes", right?
