Hey All, I'm a little baffled right now. I did my share of "irresponsible uses" of a credit card in college and thought the past was behind me, but I checked my credit report and noticed a $300 account in collections to ER Solutions. Did some research and found nothing but terrible thigns about them. Look them up, called them, got tranferred perhaps 9 times, hung up while being on hold at least 3 times till finally I had a very unpleasant conversation with a woman who would not give me her name. Long story short, she claims they have already made me my three letters and they were not returned back so "I definately got them." They went to an old address and honestly, to anyone in a big city, how many of us have gotten the occasion letter from the previous tennant in an apartment. Additionally, she claims over 60 calls have been left on my voicemail on my cell. God's honest truth, not a one. I've gotten a few weird phone calls that I've called back and it just leads me to a an Audix general voicemail box. My question is this, do I have a leg to stand on having just learned of this debt today that is existing for the past few months? Talking to these people on the phone has yielded nothing valuable and I'd much rather do my buisness with them over mail or fax (both of which, she said "we don't do here" when I asked her to send me the itemized bill). What remedies do I still have, if any? Can I still make them verify the debt? And what happens if they won't citing "they already did"? I've always been able to negoitate a favorable result, but I'm feeling like I'm looking down a well trying to convince the water to rise. Love to hear some thoughts!
Yes, make them work, make them validate the debt, since it is only a few months old, if it comes back that it is yours, I would pay it off.
