I have a dentist that is sending me a bill or $300 for 2 MISSED APPOINTMENTS!!! (Is this possible??) AND she sent me to a CA, which is ALSO trying to collect from me!!! I want to call the dentist office (I have never heard of such outrageous fees for a missed appt, and furthermore, I don't recall MAKING those appointments)... Before I call....i know there are some violations here....what can I say to her office whne I call (I'm sure they both cannot collect from me!) HELP!
Only one can collect...AND did they really "LOSE" $300??? (IF YOU REALLY DID HAVE THE APPOINTMENT). My DENTIST OFFICE always calls the people the business day before and reminds them of the appointment... ...and if somebody gets sick or is called out of town, they call people on a "special list" of future appointments of people who could come right away...30 min. or less (or they just ask their last couple of patients to come eary and the DENTIST and STAFF get to leave eary)!!!
Lizard... I will! Sad thing is that I have been going to this dentist for 10 years, until we moved....(maybe she's pissed off that she lost my business?!) Anyway...I need to prevent this from going on my CR (apparantely this dates back to 2000 (?) Aren't they in violation for trying to collect??? FOR THOSE WHO WANNA ANALYZE THIS: The statement that came from the dentist was dated 2/12/02 and says 10/17/00: Debit-Failed Appointment $150.00...then right below 10/19/00: Debit- Failed Appointment: $125 (followed by interest of 1.5% from 1/01-12/01 at $4 plus dollars a pop) THEN on 1/15/02- Debit Transworld System Inc(THE FRIGGIN CA!!!!) for $20! (WTF! She's charging me to send my acct to CA???) THEN a final 1.5% "monthly service charge dated 2/12/02 (after she sent me to CA!) Is this a joke or what???? OK....should I validate CA, and contact dentist and say what the F.. are you charging me for and BTW you are in violation of....WHAT?? I have never heard of anyone charging these fees for supposedly missed appointments!!!!
Nope....nothing, and they have never posted any signs indicating that there are missed appointment fees...
I would suggest sending a validation letter to the CA... they obviously will not be able to validate, and will probably just send the account back to the dentist. Once that happens, you could send a ltr to the dentist asking her to produce your signature on a document/contract that says you agree to pay any money if you miss an appointment.
$300 for cleaning and x-rays...if it was for fillings...DO YOU STILL HAVE THE CAVITY??? I don't think we pay that much for the 4 of us...
I don't even know what the hell the appointment was for....maybe a cleaning scheduled 6 months in advance????
Demand an accounting of the "ACTUAL" loss...AND DID THEY TRY TO LIMIT THEIR LOSS BY CALLING ANOTHER PATIENT? I said before, I don't think we pay $300 for the 4 of us (CLEANING & X-RAYS)...
