    ok here's one -

company called "alliance one" lists on my experian and transunion reports as collections opened in 12/07 for about $650. the experiean report lists a "CO" (charge off right) in feb. 08.

i called them up, and neither of the operators could come up with the original company i may-or-may-not-have owed, nor could they seem to find any sort of listing on me at all. i did, however give them my address.

it seems to me that either :

    A. I may be forgetting something, or
    B. It's an erroneous listing on my report.

given the confusion, should i dispute it either way?

    thanks all

While some people seem to think that disputing is what you do because you want to aggravate collection agencies, the actual point of the procedure is to figure out actually what is going on when you really don't know what is going on, the sort of circumstance that you describe.
