Has anyone had any luck with AMEX combining their Blue and Optima cards into one card? Did they make the issuance date the latest of the two cards? Buckets
What two AMEX cards did you have? Which card were you left with? What was the new credit limit (higher than the two combined)? And do you know what the date of the tradeline will be? Buckets
As far as my experience goes w/AmEx in this matter, it all depends on how you combine the credit lines. If for example you "reallocate" the credit from your Optima to your Blue card, then the date of the credit line is reported on your Blue card. FYI, AmEx doesn't list my actual credit lines on my CRs-- just the balances, so if this is why you're curious about the date of the CL, don't worry.... OH! PS- You must have a 0 balance on the card that you close in order to combine the 2 lines (according to a CSR.) Cheers!
Thanks for the information. My Optima card has been open since October 1999 and my Blue has been open since October 2002. I like my Blue card much better than my Optima, but my Optima tradeline is much older. I was hoping to convince them to merge my Optima into my Blue and changing the date of the tradeline to October 1999. If that's not possible, I will do it the other way around, but would prefer not to. Buckets
Alternatively, you may wish to combine Blue with the Optima, then convert the accout to a blue card- the date on your card will show that you've been a member for the entire time, however, the new account number on your credit report WILL most likely show up as a new account. :-S Good luck with AmEx-- they've always been pretty helpful with me. Peace!
