I called tonight to combine my Cap 1...I have 2 and the Kmart Card...can't do the Kmart card...they say it's a different deal but they moved my payment for that to be on the same date as the other two I'm hoping to combine. However, I was told it would be 5-7 days and I would receive a letter saying yes or no to the combining of accounts. Hasn't everyone else been told right away if it was to be done??

Thanks ahead of time for sharing your experience on this.

I have 2 cards with them and have not decided on whether to ask for combining 2 into 1. Let me know what Cap. 1 says Nana and I may follow suit. How much TOTAL balances are you carrying with Cap. 1?

I will keep you informed. It's making me crazy jumping from payment to payment to payment!

Did PFB for wife...COMBINE 2 accounts into one...reduce "GO-TO" to 7.90%...close NEWEST...MR. COOKE DID IT NO PROBLEM...

Neither was K-MART...Just regular GOLD and PLATINUM.

Thanks, George! I thought I'd go this route first...George, how did they determine your new credit line? Was it just the combination of the two?

I am going to do a 3-1 in early January.

Mr. Cooke said he could combine them to the oldest tradeline (this was 8 months ago, so maybe thngs have changed).

The total combined tradeline takes on the history of the account you transfer to.

I don't know why CapOne makes you wait. I requested to have my Gold MC and Gold Visa combined. The MC has a lower APR, and is over 2 years old. Anyway, after the "waiting period", I got a letter from them saying that the two cards would be combined - at the lower APR and the longer tradeline history. The combined account has a $2600 CL. Needless to say, I was happy. One less active tradeline, one less bill to pay.

George, were these your limits? Or your balances? Sorry to be so full of questions! Better than being full of something else, I guess! hehehe

The combination is the TOTAL of the two CL's - and at the lower APR...
