I just received my Target Visa with $500 CL this Saturday. I also have a $400 Guest Card. Is it possible to ask Target's (RNB) credit dept to close my Target guest card and include the CL into my Visa (ie. $900 CL)? Anyone successfully done this?
Did they let you keep the guest card in addition to the Visa? How long did you have the card before they gave you the Visa? I just got my guest card this month and am curious how long I will have to wait before getting the Visa. Just trying to keep the MAN'S foot off my neck. Annie
Call and ask... I had no TARGET GUEST CARD... I just applied (ON-LINE) for the VISA and got $10,000 instantly...
I guess that's why they call you SUPERMAN ;-) Yes, I'll take your advice and call them...I freakin' hope they don't pull an Inq for this request...
They did it for me when I called to request combining;I think it was done after statement closing date for the Guest card. Sister Girl
Because they pulled 2 inquiries for my Target Visa application. Here's what happened... 4/22/02 - Applied online and they pulled Exp inq. On or about 4/27/02 - Received notification (mail) that they needed more identification from me (ie. 2 utility bills, etc) 5/1/02 - Sent out the additional docs to RNB. 5/23/02 - ANOTHER FREAKIN' Inq shows up on my Exp report. I called that day (since I check CE daily) and eventually spoke with a supervisor who stated that they needed to pull an inq because my application was a month old, but I explained that I sent out the docs earlier that month. She said she would investigate and get back to me in 3 days. As of Today - Still waiting on a good response...I will be calling tomorrow.
Out of curiosity, has anyone had any luck in lowering the APR on the Target Visa prior to activating? I'm no longer willing to use a credit card that has 18.9% interest (yeah, I know...wasn't going to get this one, but felt bad that everyone else was turning me down, and all these colorful cards look pretty in my sock drawer). L
Some have SUCESS...Wife and I went DOWN one interest rate... ME 15.90%--->12.90% HER 18.90%--->15.90% 9.99% IS MY MAXIMUM...so if they expect to get $0.01 of interest, they better give me the 9.90% interest rate... I THOUGHT SOMEBODY HERE GOT THEM TO DROP IT ALL THE WAY...18.90%--->9.90% HAVEN'T TRIED LATELY...
...MORE...ANYBODY GOT A LIMIT INCREASE??? They also are going to do BT'S I guess WITH A FEE $40.00 +/- (WHEN I DON'T KNOW)...notice in the bill...
Well... I just today got my TARGET VISA in the mail hahahahaha! RNB will give me prime terms within the year. got the silly 18.9 intro interest rate. Called to activate (but told them I don't want to activate) and with only one "no mam" I then got an "ok" and got it down to 15.9%. I really tried to push for 2 tiers of decrease but was told that was against policy. A supervisor had to tell me no to get me to accept it... for now... I asked for a confirmation letter but she said the system will just start me at 15.9 instead of 18.9... which may be the key to getting 2 tiers of apr decreases quickly. I am hoping that if the system sees I "started" at 15.9... it'll think I can still go down 1 tier after activation... and so next month I'll ask again (sometimes I think companies give me stuff to just stop me from calling every month) I was told that, yes, I can combine and CLOSE my Target guest card into my Visa at any time... but I want to keep that $800 on my guest card. Good for ratios. So then they told me that I could only go down 1 tier of interest every card cycle (meaning: it can only change after the expiration of this card in 2005). I read here that someone else got it down 2 times within a short period of time... so I'm going to bust on them every month til I get 12.9... then 9.9 (before interest rates rise). A fixed 9.9 is a decent rate It's good I got this one, it'll replace my Nextcard and my FCNB Eddie Bauer card... both companies are dead or dying so no point trying to build a long term relationship with companies that will be defunct...
Oh, I was told that as long as your score stays above a certain level (couldn't get a disclosure on the score) that you can call in and request an increase every 91 days... just like you used to be able to do on the guest card. time to go set my Outlook reminders to call Target Visa every 91 days
I just called Target Visa CS. Asked about a cl increase and was told that you're eligible after 6 months and that your account is automatically reviewed by the computer every 30 days at the end of your billing cycle for an increase. And that they don't 'do' manual CL increases. I just love consistency. @@ <g> Marie - did you call the # on the back of your card or the # George posted??? Ozzy.
The # George posted is for their authorizations department - who have the authority to look over your account and make an increase on the spot. Regular customer service can only "put in a request" which usually means hard inq. I've had success with the Authorizations people - basically they ask what you're looking for and try to give it to you (if within reason). -mj
I called the authorizations number and bumped it to a supervisor. I really worked on 2 tiers... and was a bit surprised I couldn't get it... ;( Apr is normally an easier improvement than line increases. She told me 91 days. She said internal score (I asked hard or soft inquiry) she said soft... but I always check afterwards with every company to see what the reality is. Target regular increase requests do seem to generate hard inquiries... so whatever route you go... trust but verify.
Marie, When I reached my 5th month mark,I called to request a APR decrease(higher c/l not needed). Initially my request was declined, but I requested to cancel the account since they were UNWILLING to honor my request. I was bumped to a supervisor(which lowered from 15.9 to 12.9),which made me happy. I called regular cust svc # on back of card. Sister Girl
