i got the letter from Compass Bank today regarding my repo from 1995.

    Dear LKH,

In response to your request, the above mentioned account has been reviewed. Your account has been paid as agreed. I am requesting that the Credit Bureaus delete this from your credit history.

We have sent a correction to Trans Union, Equifax and TRW to have this corrected on your credit history. Please allow the credit bureaus approximately 45 days to update their records. Please accept my apologies on behalf of the bank. If you have any further questions, please feel free to contact me.

    Sincerely,

    Stacey Johnson
    Manager, VP
    Dealer Loan Operations

I don't understand this. This was a repo and they know it. I only asked them to update the date of last activity, and since Equifax never did try to verify, I also requested a letter to that effect. And this is what I got. Totally unexpected - but I'll take it.

Thanks Mike. What is amazing is that it was listed twice with both banks. I had both entries removed from Exp. and TU, and 1 from Equ. But Equ. refused to remove the last entry claiming it was verified for 2 years. All it took was 1 phone call to the creditor telling them they were misreporting the date of last activity. Unreal.

Total deletion! Wow. Now I need to work on my Ford credit letter as they are incorrectly reporting two accounts. Your sucess gives me inspiration.

    Congrats!
