Hi. I am starting this process and began making phone calls today to try to get old addresses/names removed from my report. I had no problem w/ TU--csr was very friendly. I cannot in any way shape or form find a way to deal with equifax. I ordered my report online (Fact Act report) and can't find a number anywhere on/in that report that gets me to a live person. Also, according to the info in the report, in order to speak to me via the phone OR to dispute online, they want the 10 digit 'confirmation number' from my report. The space behind the area that says "Confirmation Number" on that report is blank--on both mine AND my husbands reports. Any ideas? And the main reason for this post is I just got off the phone w/ EXP. I started by requesting they delete old names. She asked me if I ever went by any of those old names and I said no (despite the fact that one IS my maiden name). Was that wrong? Anyway, then she started asking for the incorrect addresses before I was done telling her which names were incorrect. When I told her I wasn't done telling her the old names, she replied that she needed to check to see if any of those names were tied to anything on the report. The first wrong address was successfully deleted. The second wrong address (out of 11!!) was tied to a collection account (that I planned to request validation on after the addresses were corrected). She asked me if I had ever had an acct. w/ these people (Sprint) and I said no and she said she needed to transfer me to the 'special services' department to get this taken care of. During the transfer I hung up b/c I don't want to do anything wrong at this point. Would it be better to just dispute these in writing (via USPS CMRRR) or will they just have the same 'issues' w/ deleting my addresses? I can't believe I'm hitting roadblocks already! I thought this was supposed to be the simplist part of cleaning up my credit! Any advice or help would be MUCH appreciated. Thanks!
