I just closed on purchasing a home after reviving my credit from a messy divorce a few years ago. Anyway, as a condition of receiving the mortage, I had to pay off the last few remaining debts showing unpaid on my credit report. I paid these debts off and faxed receipts to the mortgage company who in turn faxed the receipts to credit bureau to update my tri-merged report. I have a copy of my tri-merged report that the mortgage company mailed me and a copy of my equifax report pulled to establish utility service in my name. This is when I realized that my real credit report was not really updated at all!! Equifax updated my info for the mortage report but not for the regular credit report. I called Equifax and they said that the mortgage report was a temporary solution that only lasts for 90 days and I must go about it the old fashioned way (via snail mail) to have these accounts updated. How can this be!! They know and have proof that these debts are paid off!! Can they legally do this?? Any information would be greatly appreciated.
Very interesting. Anyone have additional information on this? I'm about to have all of my wrong information submitted to a rapid re-scorer who suppossedly will have an updated/corrected score within 72 hours. This according to my mortgage brooker
I think that part of your message wasn't sent. It was cut off at My mortgage broker. Please let me know what he/she says. Also, please let me know about this rescoring thing. Even with my info updated (my mortgage hasn't shown up yet) my scores are only the following: Beacon (exf) 613 Empirica (tru) 599 Fair Isaac (xpn) 561 I need to acquire a car loan at a reasonable rate!
Would you please post who you are using for the re-scoring. The deal with Equifax these last few weeks has destroyed my FICA score. Dropped almost 100 points with the accounts being placed back on. I am about to lose two investment properties because of this dogone score. Please post who you are using. Thanks, Roni
Roni, I was going through my mortgage broker, Broadview Mortgage in Wilmington, Ohio. They seemed to think that it was odd that this information reappeared on my credit report. They were helpful and sent me a copy of my Residential Mortgage Report. They told me that if they can be of any further assistance do not hesitate to call. I believe that I will do exactly that tomorrow. Also, Roni, I think that you were talking to me. I am new to this forum and am not quite sure how to repond correctly. Sirrowan By the way, the local bureau which is part of Equifax was CBC Credit Services of Dayton (Ohio).
