I just found a charge from this company on my bank statement, it was from 04/30/03.

I had signed up with Privacygaurd in march and I thought boy is that quick on the 90 days $1 trial so I called PG

They said I have untill June 14th to cancell, I then called CIC and they said I had a free trial with them that I did not cancell and the charge was from that. I asked if they were in any way affiliated with PG and they said no so I said then I do not nor have I ever had an account with you.

She then offered to cancell my membership? and refund my $79.95.

Anybody else ever have this one happen? Weird huh?

You know what, this is some weird shit.

With this whole confusion about PG, IPlace and Consumerinfo.com I cancelled my PG membership.

Didn't someone post on the other huge PG hard inquiries thread that they called Consumerinfo to ask about PG and they were put on hold while being transferred to the "PG department"?

I don't know what's happening, but it looks funny and I'm not waiting to find out about the outcome of this.

I find it very odd that there seems to be this complete denial of affiliation between PG and Consumerinfo.com. On PG's website, before pulling your credit report, it clearly states there is at least some affiliation.

I took a screenshot of the page I'm talking about:

    Blessed,

    Thanks for the screenshot.

Now everyone go to www.bbb.com and look up first Trilegiant and see what status with the BBB they have, and then take a look at Consumerinfo.com.

    NOT pretty.

I got the same charge on my cc last night. I have been looking all over to find out what this was about. DH & I have both used EQ & EXP 30 day trials but cancelled prior to the end of trial period. We are also currently using PG but have only been using it for approximately 35 days. I thought that the charge might have been for EQ since when I cancelled they were having technical difficulty and said they would have to get back to me.

I will be calling them tomorrow and getting this charge removed immediately. I did dispute it right away online with my cc company.

    Thanks

I think I am coming to a conclusion on how this chit happens.

We PG users just recentlt had been getting hard inq's when pulling reports (happened over the weekend).

What if these "divisions" of the same company temporarily had their customer databases combined?

Would that explain the billing and coding conflicts that we are having?

    debtor_x,

Whatever the reason, PG keeps vehemently denying that they have anything to do with Consumerinfo.com. That statement looks rather baloney when you look at the big picture and at the picture linked by one of the other posters on this thread.

One way or the other, doing business with a company that can't figure out their associations is not a good idea in my book.

Also, these mix-ups could always end up as a costly mistake should people chose to sue over the mess that PG & Associates have created.

I wonder how many people will have their hard inquiries recoded and just how quickly.

When I called consumerinfo.com this morning she said that they have nothing to do with PG and that I must have signed up through qspace.com. I told here that I had not hear of qspace.com and that I thought it was funny that the date she shows I signed up on qspace.com is the exact same date I signed up on pg. I also asked her why, if they are not associated with pg, each time I pull my report from pg I get a soft inquiry from consumerinfo.com. She didn't know what to say, except mam, I have cancelled your membership you will receive a credit within 7-10 days. The real scary part is they have all of my personal information and I don't like that.

I hear you. I really hate givving my accoount numbers out over the net. And especially to those companies of questionable character.

I wish I had been more involved with my credit repair (ie obsession now) at the time I signed up I used my debit card. A big no no. I now know that you are better protecet from fraud if you use a regular CC.

    Thanks, DX
