I recently got a really good offer on my att universal acct. They offered to raise my cl an extra 2k and have a rate of around 3.9% for 12 months if I transferred a balance. I did it before with them and it was locked in till paid off at 6.9%. It said on the offer that you have to call before making it out the checks (supposedly for my protection), but I wondered if you think the checks would work even if I didnt call them as long as I had enough cash available in my credit line? I don't want to call them because they are always pushing for more stuff and they alwasys want an update of my income, where I work etc. Do you think the checks would work without calling them?

    luxury4me,

You don't have to transfer balance for getting limit increase. All you logged on websites and choose credit limit increase. If they didn't ask for filling the form, you can get increase without hard inquiry.

Thanks, but I actually wanted to take advantage of the balance transfer option too. I just didn't want to call them because they are very pushy.

    luxury4me,

I called them to convert my AT&T Platinum into Cash Rewards and they offer 4.9% BT until the balance paid off.

I called them to activate my checks, they were not pushy at all. I got a line increase of 3500 and a 5.9 for a year.

I took advantage of this a few years ago with a $2000 limit increase, BT, and 5.9% for life of promotional BT balance. I'm still paying on the balance (it's buried under some higher-interest purchase balance), but it's saved me a lot of money and I have had NO problems whatsoever.

Deal from strength. We always payoff all balances before taking advantage of the low rates. This avoids paying off the low rates and accumulating interest on the higher rates. Always leverage your credit by paying off higher interest balances with lower interest rates. It not only saves money, but it shows good money management skills and it is usually rewarded with lower rates and higher limits.
