Today, I received a call from the Attorney Generals office of PA regarding Gulf State Credit/OSI Portfolio Services. He was PISSED off with them after reading my complaint. When he initially called them they sent him a letter telling them they couldn't find me in their system. I gave him a very brief rundown of what happened. Gulf State purchased an alleged phone bill from Sprint in Nov of 2000. They sold it the same month. I asked for validation from Gulf State and never received it. I sent copies of all correspondence, with certified return receipts. I sent 2 letters asking for validation. They never validated the debt, and went so far as to verify it to Experian 3 times. I had all my documentation, including copies of letters and proof they received my demands for validation, and copies of my investigation results from Experian. I was shocked, he started swearing and said, "once they sold it they should have taken it the hell off your credit report!" Also, he informed me that there are complaints all over the country from this particular collection company. More people complain about this company than any other. He told me he would all me back and let me know they have removed their tradeline. He also said he is going to discuss this with the FTC and the AG of Georgia, because he is tired of dealing with them. He informed me he has several other people with similar complaints about Gulf State/OSI. I would tell anyone that reads this post, If Gulf State/OSI Portfolio Services, or Allied Bonding has a notation on your report, make them validate the debt. If they don't respond complain to the FTC (joke), AG, and anyone esle. Someone will hear you and act on your behalf.
Terry, looks like you have helped to light the fire!!! Now let's fan it into a Bon Fire! THANK YOU, THANK YOU! Tuit
LKH should call he has had mucho trouble with Gulf States. I am going to wait for my response from NCO (which has never come in the past and I dont expect one now) and do the same with them. Did you call the AG in your state or the state where Gulf States is located? -Peace, Dave
I filed a complaint with the AG in my state which is Pennslyvania. I have to admit the AG of PA took my complaint very seriously. UPDATE: I spoke with the Agent assigned to my case. He told me he has received notification from Gulf State Credit that their notation from my credit report has been removed. He is going to fax and mail copies of the correspondence he has received from them for my files. It was only listed on my Experian report. So that is one less neg I will have. I wonder how it will affect my fico. They listed the tradeline in 2000, and dated it for 96, atleast they didn't try to reage it. I am hoping to gain atleast 15-20 points. I have one other neg listed a charge off from CAP ONE that will come off this year. Those are the only 2 collections I have left.
