Copy of old CR --- Illegal???

    Great! Keep building your paper trail. Dispute this item with the CRAs reporting it. Tell them they are violating the 7 year reporting rule. Quit worrying about obtaining the old snapshot of your report. THis is counter-productive. When you do or dont get a response, post here and ask for what to do next. Good luck!!

    I would doubt that you have a "legal" right to this document. However, you may be supplied a complimentary copy if the creditor so chooses. When a creditor buys this information it can be changed and modified by the creditor to suit their needs. It may never actually become a tangible & coherent report that we are familiar with. To provide you with a copy that has been modified by deletions and/or integrated with your electronic account file may not be something the creditor will be so willing to let you have if it could be used against them or the agency supplying the information.

    However, I doubt it would be illegal.
