Can someone please help me understand this??? There is a repossesion that is being reported on my credit report. I was a cosigner on the account. I was never made aware of the default on the loan. Years later when I found out that it was on my report, I requested it be validated. A letter was sent to me where you could tell someone came along and typed my name to the original document. The font didn't even match the letter! (Is this legal?) They only sent me a copy of the sale of the car, and a collection letter that they sent to the actual debtor. It shows the date the car was sold and the amount it was sold for. My question is, if they sold the car, what in the heck is up with this recent balance!! Can they just add a person's name to old documents and pass that off as a validation? Does anyone have any suggestions here?

    Credit Limit/Original Amount:
    $6,924

    High Balance:
    NA

    Recent Balance:
    $16,401 as of 06/2002
