Could it be because I was looking?

    So here's the deal...

I have a car payment that is due on the 16th but I make the payment on the 15th when I get paid. For the past 15 months, it's taken about 10 days for the check to go from the mailbox to show up as clearing the bank. That's not been a problem because they have a 10-day grace period before they tack on a late charge.

Now the mail should only take three days to get from here to there so I got curious, this month.

So, this month, I sent the payment certified mail, just to see how long it actually takes to get there and, wouldn't you know it? The check cleared before the post office posted the receipt (6-days after mailing, 3 of which were the weekend).

So... did they speed up their processing the same month I happened to send the payment via certified mail?

    or...

Did they process it as soon as they received it (like they are supposed to) because they knew I was watching?

Things the make you go "hmmmmmm........"

Because they knew you were invoking the FCBA . . .

There's also the chance that your check this month received "special handling" because it was sent CM. It may not have gotten dumped into the bulk mail pile, and got "moved to the top". I think you cut through the normal process w/special mailing.
