Okay, I'm all back and full of piss and vinegar (he, he); had the 701 FICO two weeks ago--dropped to 668 with one inquiry from Citi--now the score for 2/1 is 669 (thanks for the point)--- Anyhoo, here's the deal: under my top four reason codes, #1 is inquiries (okay--I won't argue there); BUT, #2 says: "Level of delinquency on accounts"; the ensuing paragraph goes into this big lecture about paying your bills on time...here's an abridged version: This is the second most important factor affecting your score. Research reveals that consumers with previous late payments are much more likely to pay late in the future. The score evaluates not only the presence of previous late payments, but also how late the payments were and how recent the late payments occurred... (etc). I have no late payments anywhere, particularly since the student loan lates were the last to get deleted (around 2 months ago)-- HOWEVER (bear with me), we (the wife and I) did have an account with Conseco (2nd mortgage/siding), and here's how it reports: JOINT ACCOUNT; opened: 6/1999; date of last activity: blank (that doesn't make sense); type of account and status: unknown (another no-senser, it should say mortgage/pays as agreed); then it goes on to say:-----30 days past due 00 times, 60 days...00 times, etc.---- ----OK, I took a break from writing to reread the EQ report---they snuck a 60 day late back into one of my student loans---accident or purposeful? Who knows? When I went to the begin an investigation--on my Conseco and the one student loan, I had the opportunity to check "I never paid this late"--now why would that be there with Conseco, if the implication wasn't factored in score-wise and explanation-wise that it was late? You gotta watch Equifax closer than Bin Laden is what I'm sayin.... Man, sorry for the rambling....I gotta headache now... I'll be back in the 700 club by March 1st--tryin' to kick me back into coach from first class--damn stewardesses---where is that drink cart anyway? Cheers-- David
That happened to me on an account a while back, it was reported as 00 times 30 days, etc. I disputed it as never late, and they removed the line. It didn't make sense, but they did correct it. Oh, and it only happened on Equifax.
Well, I knew--somehow--that you can't go from 701 to 668 with ONE INQUIRY--hell, if that's the case, I'd be Jonesin' it and bidding on credit score points on Ebay from my inquiries in the last two years.... BTW, I found the cocktail cart on this flight... Cheers-- David
I have noticed from the various post on this board lately they are finding more and more reasons[ER Make that excuses] to lower your score. Has any one else on here noticed this trend???
I may actually have the same issue with 3 accounts reported in the same way "30 days 00, 60 days 00, 90 days 00" .. These accounts we never late .. My number 1 reason for a lower score with EQ (660) is "serious delinquency". The only other negative I have is an account (Visa) that was settled in 3/99 but it has never been past due.. It is reported as "Revolving" Pays as agreed with an R1 code but with a note that settlement was accepted on this account. I am going to dispute the "30 days..." line and see if this affects the score..
Re: Re: Could this be lowering score/EQ? Hey, Did you dispute it? Was it fixed? Did your Score go UP?
