Equifax's counter-Bumpage mechanism kicked in today on my report, deleting no less that 101 soft INQs. Oh well, I did have a hard one bumped out of my report a couple of days ago.

Another way to accelerate bumpage is to dispute balances. If you paid off your account and the "balance" shown on your report is no longer valid, dispute it. Dispute each account separately. Each completed investigation generates a soft "Equifax - disclosure" INQ.

That's what i was doing & would call back later that day. On the 14/02 i check my summary & had 96 inq called three times on 15/02 . Then went to check my summary & it was at 43 lost a lot of softs but no hards. Score was 683,now 679. Emerge trade line came on the same day, so guest that drop my score.

When you say dispute separately, do you mean start an investigation and do that one item. Close out everything and then do another one?

Also, what about disputing a balance that hasn't updated in a while, or do you just recommend doing this for 0 balances?

YOU CAN HELP WITH BUMPAGE...DISPUTE BALANCE ON ONE ACCOUNT AND THEN SEND...(one NEW dispute like maybe 5-10 times per month)...I think it adds like 3 SOFT per dispute.

Don't use the same report ever again to dispute off of...GET A NEW ONE!!!

Happened to me today too -- went from 149 inquiries (3 hard) to 64 inquiries. All deleted inquiries were soft.

so, is counter-bumpage being rolled out across CW accounts such that once it hits, bumpage from pulling will stop? Apologies if I missed an account of this on another thread...

    It's been hit and miss.

Seems those who have had split or locked files already that have required EQ intervention are the most vulnerable.

It's happened on one of our EQ reports three times now, but bumpage started again when enough softs caught up.

The other EQ report which hasn't ever had a "problem" from file size is still getting regular bumpage.

Yeah, those rats got me for another 82 softs (maybe more) again this week. Less than 2 weeks after I got bumpage restarted. Again. This is now the 4th time they have done their "counter-bumpage" nonsense on me. It did start the 1st time after I was blocked from getting my report due to the 45D error code, which apparently means your file is "too long".

    Thanks for the replies.

As of Friday, my wife's credit report can't be pulled...first I get an "identity coudn't be verified, call CW" error message, then upon trying again I get a "too busy" error message.

I want to have hers available each day, but care more about bumpage than getting it fixed immediately...should I sit tight awhile or just have her call them up today?
