Here's what we do at Wells Fargo Bank to verify cashier's Checks: Call the issuing bank and verify the serial #'s (check #), dollar amount, AND payee. If all match, then we check the actual check to make sure it has all the watermarks it should as an official bank check - by putting the check under a UV light (black light) we can tell if the check is authentic or not. Also, if receiving a cashier's check or money order for an internet purchase, make sure the check is authentic before sending out the merchandise. Only after the check has cleared is it "GUARANTEED" funds.
