OK, Now I'm interested. I have a consolidated student loan that was consolidated back in 1998. I've deferred and forbearanced it for the past 5 years. Are you trying to claim if I wait 2 more years they fall off of my CR? Surely that is incorrect.

    No.

The seven year SOL would start once the account defaulted, and yours are fine. You would have to end the foreberance, let the accounts default and then wait another seven years.

And that's just the statute of limitations on credit reporting. Personally I don't know what the SOL is on collecting student loans, or even if there is one.

Mycroft is right. See, I went into default immediately after graduating from college. I had no concept of what "good credit" was. I had never seen a credit report at that point.

The CA for the student loans called me right up to the time the negs came off my report and I have not heard from them since. In your case, several years have not gone by - you are not even in default. The 7-year-option does not look like a viable one for you.

Could you give a little more detail on the dispute process for SL's? I need to get the late pays from mine removed.

Same as any other dispute, via the CRA.

The rule of thumb is no more that 3-4 disputes at a time.

There isn't an SOL on student loan collections.

Why doesn't it (i.e. SOL) count for student loans? I had student loans.... they're gone off my report now.

There is a limit at age 50. My SIL's are off her report, but if she gets a federal tax refund it's taken and applied. If yours hasn't been taken then your lucky.

Giving them the refund is plain dumb

I told her and she's upped dependents to 10 so hopefully it'll never happen again.
