I have a judgment against me from a landlord dated 3/98. I would like to settle this as I know money judgments can be renewed indefinitely.

On my credit report, there is a CA assigned to this account. I phoned the CA and asked them to settle for 50% (of the $1736) and they offered to settle for 75%. I told them that I could not afford to pay them $1302 and ended it there.

Should I attempt to contact the original creditor to try to work out a deal?

Should I make another attempt with CA to settle for less?

Can the CA sign a Satisfaction of Judgment statement for me (if I do pay up) or does that need to be done by the original credit or who sued me?

What state are you in? It's not necessarily true that a judgment is renewable forever. Depends on your state law.
