I have a judgement that is $1221 in the court records but I paid the creditor $1100 and received a letter from the creditor stating that this debt has been satisfied. However, the court system will not change the status to paid, I was told by one of the clerks that the attorney's office has to release the judgement. Also, I sent a copy of this paid statement to Equifax but they refuse to change the status, Experian did. Do I have to take legal action against the attorney's office or the court. Please help. Thanks,
SEND THE COURT AN "ITS" along with ANOTHER copy of the SATISFIED LETTER... "COURTS" are NOT above the law...
A judgment is updated by one of three ways: 1. The attorney who sued you returns the writ of execution [ which is the paper that was given when s/he won the judgment ]. 2. The attorney who sued you can write the court a letter stating that the judgement is satisfied. Include the docket number, date jedgement entered, etc. 3. You can file a motion that you've satisfied the judgment and present your evidence to the court. The other attorney will be notified and given a chance to respond. Number 2 is the typical route. If you need to do number 3, the clerks should be able to help you. Good luck.
