Hello. This may sound like a very silly question, but, how do you find out the last date you paid a debt, to begin the sol? I have looked on my credit report and see date account opened, but nothing stating when it went deliquent. I looked on the newbies questions and searched for a similar question, but could not find. Please help. Thank you.

Most of my old items only show the date that I opened the account. It is weird. I am sure that is not the last date of payment activity. How do I find this information out without going directly to the company?

Which report are you looking at, and have you looked at all three.

Sometimes companies report the bare bones to one CRA, and may actually give another CRA more information; or the CRA may keep reporting the payment history previously submitted to it, etc.

If none of the reports give any type of clue to when the last payment was, the only way to find out would be by requesting validation, and in that case you could wake up the sleeping dog; so you only want to do that when you absolutely know that its either small enough not to be sued for, or that it is 99% certainty over the SOL.

some CRA's refer to "DATE OF STATUS" as start of the 7yr reporting period
