Just used CreditGuard to start my post BK7 clean up and had a few questions. I have read a lot on here, but still need a little more advice. First, do you really dispute items that are actually legit? Also, what should the tradelines actually say on items included in BK? Should I dispute old accounts that wern't listed in the BK but are shown as included? Last, there is a medical collection on Exp and TU that I have no clue what it is. It has a $0 balance. To fight this, do I find out what i its for (and if so, how), or do I just do a general dispute. Also, if the accounts are listed as XXXX how do I specify what I am disputing. Thanks so much!!
1. DO NOT send your BK paperwork to any CRA NO MATTER WHAT! 2. Have you opted out? 3. Did you delete old personal information? to answer your questions: 1. yes but usually because the TL is still wrong 2. $0 IIB 3. dispute them as not IIB 4. dispute medical collection as "not mine" 5. write to the CRA asking for who is reporting the "XXXXX". they have to provide who the furnisher is and that isn't sufficient!
Also, I read one post where something was said about getting the BK off your CR by removing the address on file that matched the court records, and then disputing as not mine, because public records don't show your SS# only your address, and if they don't match they will remove. Is it that simple? Because I have moved since the BK and could get the address removed.
Re: Re: CR questions..please help! it is that simple, mine fell off the first time i disputed and i live at the address i did then. i did want to add that the older the bankruptcy the easier it is and to get the IIB accounts removed first.
Re: Re: CR questions..please help! If you are trying to remove legit IIB accounts, how do you do it without lying, which is a crime isn't it? I think I read that somewhere.
Re: Re: CR questions..please help! 4 out of 5 reports contain errors. most tradelines contain some error - if what is being reported does not match my records i dispute it as "not mine". this isn't just the IIB notation - it could be the date opened, date closed, account number, payment history etc.
Re: Re: CR questions..please help! I'm very interested in this thread. Questions: 1. What's an llb? 2. Is there a sample letter to use when disputing an entry as "not mine?" Thanks!
Re: Re: Re: CR questions..please help! IIB - included in bankruptcy check the sample letter forum which is on the same page that lists credit forum, general, etc. basically all you are saying is Dear EQ/TU/EXP, I recently rec'd copy of CR and found a debt with ABC BAnk Acct #XXXXX that is not mine. Please delete and send an updated report. thanks - Jen****of course you would put a little more detail. and NEVER attempt this with more than a couple tradelines at a time.
Re: Re: Re: CR questions..please help! Thanks, Jen. I'm new to this, but assuming that the reason one should not attempt this with more than a couple of accounts (same thing as trade lines) at a time is because they might think you're playing games with them? Also, still trying to get my mind around the whole idea of saying "it's not mine," rather than saying it's incorrect, etc. Thanks!
Re: Re: Re: Re: CR questions..please help! 1. you got it. the CRA's are getting smart and are quick to pick up if you are doing credit repair. 2. i used to have ethics when it came to credit repair and then i realized that these companies have no loyalty to me. while i would never do anything illegal, i certainly have no problem using their violations against them. for instance when disputing my bankruptcy which says i filed 12/1/98 (not true - it was 12/18/98) - i simply said i did not file bankruptcy on 12/1/98. not a lie, but not the whole truth. it is THEIR - the CRAs, OCs, CAs - job to report accurate information. it is not my job to prove what is being reported is accurate - that is their job.
Re: Re: Re: Re: CR questions..please help! Think of it this way... If there is a TL on your report that is inaccurate, then it can't be "yours" because your information would be listed accurately!
