had a bk7 (mark of the beast) in 10-98...looking to repair my CR, my question: is it best to contact CRAs & change status from "chargeoff" to BK? will that increase my score? some of my "chargeoff" are well over 5 years...is there a statute of limitations and if so am I better off invoking that?
    thanks, kris

If I had the opportunity to undo the "stupid" thing I did back in August...I would do the following..

    1. Dispute the account via the CRA as simply "inaccurate". Do NOT say it was included in BK. Use the advice provided by Christine (Bay House) about the best way to dispute an account...

    http://www.bayhouse.com/credit-forum/showthread.php?threadid=600

    2. Do NOT send the CRA your BK documentation. Let them investigate and do their own research.

    3. Do NOT tell the CRA to put any statement associated with your account or report that even mentions BK.

Do the research (search the archives) and you'll see this advice posted many times. If you follow this advice (from others), you won't end up like me...always wondering... "I would of, could of, should of..."....

Regarding the point difference btw CO and BK...I haven't seen much difference myself, but others can probably give you better advice...

IMHO...it would be better to have the acct reflect BK, but then again...you don't want to TELL them to change it as such.
