Hello All! I'm getting my letters ready for the CRA's. Other than supporting info for my disputes, what do I need to include with the letters? A copy of my credit report? I only have a 3 in 1 from ConsumerInfo... Is that appropriate to send copies of? I feel like that's too much information, as they all (the 3 CRA's) have so many different details.

Additionally, Equifax has my maiden name only, should I have them change this right away (file online?)?

    Thank you for your help!

    A couple of things,

If you're trying to dispute things that are listed in your maiden name, definitely update your name on record with them first. They'll probably want to see a SS card and/or DL with your new name on it to do this.

Once that is done, get the old name off. Again, this is especially important if you're trying to get things deleted that are listed in your maiden name.

I would not send them a copy of a 3-in-1 credit report. If you're disputing things that also appear on one of the other CRAs, you are weakening your case. There is really no need to send them a copy of your credit report at all. They should have it. To verify your identity, however, you will need to send them your SS Card and DL.

Thank you so much for your reply. I really do appreciate it. I was planning to send my disputes next week. If I change my personal info online will that work in time? How do I go about deleting my old name? I noticed that Experian just has my married, Equifax my maiden, and TU has both! Talk about consistency! Thank you for the CR info, I really needed to know that, and feel much better that I don't have to include it. I had just read somewhere else that you should include it with highlighted dispute areas. I'd rather not. Thank you so much for your time and caring.
