One week ago, I submitted a dispute to each of the CRA's. Each dispute was simple, straightforward and easy to understand. Part of this was a test to see how they would respond and how quickly they would respond.

The disputes to EQ and EX consisted of a letter from a creditor saying that the collection account listed by their collection agency was in error and should be deleted. Both CRA's previously validated this entry even though the creditor admits it was not me and the entry was in error. The letter was a copy of what the creditor had mailed a few weeks ago directly to the CRA's.

EQ responded just as I thought - asked for name, address, phone number and other info included in my original letter. I sent them a copy of my credit report last week which they had just sent me. To get that, I had to submit all this info. They are just delaying but this is what they do best.

EX said they will have to contact the creditor directly. I wonder why the fact the creditor has already sent them this letter does not count? I had predicted that EX would take at least a month before responding, based on my past experience with them.

TU had the easiest dispute. I had previously disputed 10 current student loans belonging to my son as not mine. Even though some were as old as 5 years, they just popped up on my reports for no known reason. TU deleted them last month but then reinserted six of them as either transferred to another lender or paid off. So, last weeks dispute was on one of those as previously disputed as verified as not mine. No answer from TU yet.

My point is that these are all simple things to take care of and the CRA's are making a big deal out of them, especially EQ.
