    Re: MIB

    Time for the ECOA :)

Personally, I think the data mining that is more recent is more of a threat. Where they report on where you shop and what you buy, and compare it with others to predict your financial condition. So if you use your check card in a thrift store, you get zinged for it.

I have had some experience dealing with MIB, and you would be pleasantly surprised at their attitude. As long as one of the big credit bureaus doesn't buy them out, they will most likely remain as they are - in the background, only used for insurance. Also, the privacy laws must not be made more lenient regarding medical information, as some medical providers and insurance are attempting (under the guise that it benefits the patient to have medical information readily available). This would end up the same way all the deregulation has ended up - the information becomes a a profit-producing commodity.

Once you see them listed as a resource on something like Choicepoint, watch out!! Then we will be in trouble.

I emailed them also, at the "contact" address. I will let y'all know if they respond and what they say.

I tried to get a free MIB report (Ga allows us 2 credit reports per year) and MIB came back and said they were unaware of any requirement for them to give me a free report.

    thoughts?
