I want to send a verification letter to the local Experian credit office. I cannot do disputes online. In 1994 my car was broken into and my pocketbook was stolen. A police report was filed and I had to get new cc i.d., etc. There was 1 fraudulent charge on 1 of my cc and that was investigated and removed but that card went into collections in 1997. My question, is in the verification letter I wrote a paragraph on having my info stolen. I did not mention fraud in any way only that they need to make sure the derog is mine. Do you think this will trigger them to put a fraud flag on my CRA or do you think it will make them more sympathetic? I am disputing as not mine. I have about 5-6 derog on my credit. I had sent some validation letters and still waiting for the CRRR cards back from 11/28. Do you think I should have my local post office investigate what happened to these letters? It's almost been 30 days. I would appreciate any comments. Thank you!
