I just got my student loan file from the Dept of Ed. there is a differment in there from 12/97 to 5/98. My credit reports all show charge off date as 01/98. What would be the best way to handle this. Thanks.
you need to dispute with the cra's as never late and see what happens. If they verify you can send them a copy of your file. You could send the copy first and ask them to update it, however, I am on a mission to collect cra violations for possible lawsuits.. I would dispute first, however, they will probably update since the information is already in your file.
UNiondDiva, I made a mistake when I said they were charged off on 01/98. They are calling that my Date of Last Activity. I have disputed these twice as "not mine" and both times came back verified. I really want to know if there is a way to get them removed by disputing the the DLA as bieng "inaccurate reporting". What do you think? Also, the last time I disputed these I sent a letter out on April 25, 2002 and they verified it on May 2, 2002. I thought that was pretty quick, looks to me like they didn't really validate it, but I guess that would be hard to prove, any suggestions? I'm working with Sallie Mae to start rehabing the loans, but my credit has been a wreck ever since I defaulted, I sure would love to have decent credit again. Thanks.
