I have been attempting to dispute addresses and inquiries and other items with Equifax. I sent two CMRRR letters with the disputes. Equifax replied to both letters with the same statement:

    Dear Consumer:

We received your request concerning your Equifax credit file and have addressed your concerns. However, the information you provided as proof of your identity does not match your information currently on file. Therefore, to protect your credit information, we must ask for some additional information in order to verify your identification and address.

According to TrueCredit, my current address is the only address on file. Why would I have to send information to verify my identification if according to their records that is my address from 4/2002? I don't understand.

What additional information are they asking for?

Identification proving that it is really me and that it is my address. One of Social Security card, Pay stub with US SSN, or W2 form. And one of Driver's license, Rental lease agreement/house deed, Pay stub with address, or Utility bill.

If you have your EQ hard copy report, get on the phone and call them. Ask to dispute incorrect information, tell them you " never lived at those addresses ", and tell them to delete them. If you never lived there, they are inaccurate, right?

If you don't have a real EQ hard copy report, get one. If you are serious about credit repair you must have a hard copy report from all three CRA's via the US mail, each with the all important Report Number.

    Thank you.

After many attempts to find a real phone number I was able to speak to a live agent. The first agent sounded like it was her first day on the job. Her supervisor saw that my birth date is incorrect and told me that I would have to send in information showing my correct birth date. I told her that I had a copy of their credit report from November showing my correct birth date. I guess she took my word for it and changed the date.

    Thanks again.

They tried to deny a dispute for my sister because she wasn't born on 00/00/0000!!! YES, NO MONTH, NO DATE, NO YEAR...

Apparently they decided that when someone performed a pull based only on SSN, that their blank DOB had to be accurate.

I so wish I had a copy of my semi-sarcastic response... Essentially, I'm sorry if I had the audacity to provide a date of birth that actually EXISTS! BTW: Since your company frivolously refused to investigate, if the investigation isn't completed by (30 days from green card date) you will be sued IMMEDIATELY.

I would love to hear them explain to a judge why they denied a dispute, because they updated a DOB to a value that any pre-schooler would know doesn't even EXIST.
