I have an item on my credit report that keeps coming back verified after 2 rounds of disputes with all 3 CRAs. The thing is that the account number on the credit reports does not match the account number on my credit card statements. It doesn't even have enough digits! I've heard that the account numbers are sometimes scrambled on reports for security, but other tradelines have account numbers that match existing cards/loans. Does anybody have advice on disputing this item again? I already disputed as "never late" because I have an account with that bank which has never been late. Should I re-dispute as "not my account" or will this raise a red flag? db
If you only have 1 account with this bank and it is being reported wrong, why not just call the creditor and advise them it is being reported incorrectly and ask them to update it by UDF immediately. UDF is short for universal data form which the creditors use to fax info to the cra's.
