wow i cant believe capital one actually seems to have put out a pretty good card. capital one visa no hassle card actually has a fixed 8.9% apr on purchases and balance transfers and finally no annual fee. i thought i remembered hearing capital one had to have an annual fee. they still dont have any perks or benefits though other than no fee on bt. does anyone have this card yet?

I have had one for over a year, your right about the limited benefits but the rate is competitive.
I still had to use PFB hat in hand for a substantial credit increase but other than that I get no fee BT's so overall not bad.

Capital One offers a variety of cards; most of the small ones carry annual fees.

i have a capital one mastercard that i got when i just had over a year of credit. it has a $39 annual fee. i was thinking about getting rid of it because of that but it also has one of my lower interest rates at 14.9%. i wanna apply for an amex blue soon because i know i will get a much better rate and cl but im gonna buy a house in a few months. when it came time to have the annual fee hit, i called them and they cut it in half. next time im gonna tell them to take off the whole fee or i will just cancel the card. although i did just get a $700 increase. i though that was pretty generous.

I have a Capital one card with NO annual fee and 9% rate....only card I did have with Cap 1 that had an annual fee was my secured card.

"No Hassle" is Crap1's foray into the prime market.

The interest rate is fixed and pretty good and I think the minimum CL is 5K.

However, make sure your reports are perfect before you apply, and be prepared for 3, count 'em, 3, hard inquiries... one for each report.

IMO, its just not worth applying for those 3 reasons.

And make sure you carry a balance at least 1/2 the time...Cap1 won't give this card to those who pay in full every single month.

I DON'T USE IT FOR PURCHASES...

    BT ONLY...3.90%

4.99% would be FINE (for a while)

I've talked to Crap 1 about updrading to Platinum and they said you may do so once you have $5K in available CL. The question I didn't ask them and my question here is, if you combine your accts and get that $5K limit and do the upgrade, do you get the No Hassle card or just a generic platinum? From Cap 1's website, it appears that the No Hassle is the only platinum they have, but I'm sure not every card they have is listed on that site.

The NO HASSLE card is a SEPERATE PRODUCT...
(YOU COULD APPLY FOR THAT CARD)---not sure if many people get it.

    YES you can combine cards...

Wife combined 2 INTO 1...then we combined our 2 into one "JOINT" (MR COOKE)--did it kinda' by mistake...BUT IT WORKED OUT FINE...

At some point in the last year, my Cap1 card became a platinum card. Hard to believe that a $1200 limit @10% is platinum AND has a $59 fee, but it actually says platinum on the card.

Hmmm...they told me I couldn't go Plat until I had $5K in total CLs.

I've got one card w/ $3200 and a toy $300 card. I did PFB the other day to get the $3200 up to $5K since I've been a cust for 2 yrs+. Seems that last $1500 is gonna be hard to come by. But i'm using the $300 card like a madman to try and get a generous CLI. I'm just trying to get out from under the annual fee. I've got several prime cards...the only reason I keep Cap 1 around is because it's my 2nd oldest acct.

That conversion to platinum once $5000 is reached is not a guarantee. Only in some cases. In fact, some have found that $5000 is as high as they can go without reapplying for a real plat card. Never hurts to try and ask though.

Re: Re: Re: crapital one no hassle card?

I tried about 18 months ago to convert my green marble Cap 1 card to a Plat. I contacted Mr. Cooke and was told that I needed 5k in CL to be able to convert. So with my permission (stupid me!) Cap 1 pulled three hard inqs, told me know NO on the PLT. but out of the kindness of their hearts, a $300.00 CL boost will be added to my CL. At that time I had a bk-13 listed with a FICO around 660 and a $2900.00 CL.

It's my oldest TL, at 7 years with a perfect payment history. The theory for most posters here regarding Cap 1 is that once you are considered sub-prime with a sub-prime Cap 1 product you will always be considered sub-prime regardless how good and how long your history with them is.

The Cap 1 Plt. 'No hassle' card is a different product from their basic Plat card.

I myself have never received a invitation to apply any other Cap 1 product nor will I be asking them for any.

    Best regards,
    Mirage
