CRAs are a waste of space

I've been checking my credit reports. So much info (some of it positive) is wrong.

Equifax has me paying on time for a home loan, yet I've never been anything but an apartment dweller.

Why do lenders even check with CRAs, when obviously all this bogus info is no indication of peoples' creditworthiness?

I don't think I've seen an industry that's run this haphazardly?

    So true.

However, until there are a stronger set of laws on the books governing the credit industry, we as the consumers, will be forced to correct their mistakes.

As a member on the board put it, it's a system of: "Guilty until proven innocent"

    Hi mindcrime,

It makes me laugh that I actually took all this seriously -- and felt at the CRAs' mercy -- before I found creditnet.

No one ever once suggested to me: you know, if you ask, they will often just delete the negatives.

Dispute the negative accounts and fix the positive accounts. After about a year of hard work the credit files will be accurate.

I would leave the house loan alone, as long as it's positive. I have a friend that has 3 or 4 positive tradelines that aren't his. I wish that I could be so lucky. Charlie

I agree that the CRA's can't manage anything properly. It does seem as if they are useless if they can't get anything right, and it's a total waste of time on the consumer's part to go in and have to dispute every little thing that is wrong. They just need to learn how to manage their databases better.

The only thing that's heartening to me is that all of this stuff is old. I'm (perhaps naively) assuming that once I get it straightened out ther wn't be a lot more erroneous entries to deal with.

I accidentally disputed a store credit card entry that is positive but not mine. Oh well.

Am leaving the home loan on.
