I just noticed that I have 28 consumer inquiries from Equifax over the last 20 months. How long do these inquiries remain? My guess is 24 months, but I'm not sure. Also, are these inquiries factored into our score? Thanks, in advance. Dani
Hard 2 years (UNLESS YOU DISPUTE THEM OFF) Soft 1 year (they keep them on 2+ years FOR YOUR BENEFIT, SO THEY SAY)...I DISPUTED ALL SOFT 1+ YEARS OLD...THEY REMOVED ALL OF THEM...but tried to dispute some 3 months old and the REFUSED TO DELETE!!!
George, I'm a little confused. I was referring to the inquiries that show on my credit report when I pull it from Equifax. I think they are labeled Consumer Relation, Consumer Interview, Equifax Consumer Direct, and seven other different names. Are these hard? Can I delete them? Dani
They do not hurt you at all from what I understand. You are not penalized for inquiring of your own credit record. You could dispute them, but it would do no good. You are the only one that sees those inquiries. They should have no weight on you credit score. If you dispute that you did not order those credit reports, then who did? Then the fraud question may come up. Correct me if I am wrong.
Oh, I don't dispute that I ordered the reports. My concern is that when I dispute information with the credit bureaus they pull the report three times on the same day. Example, March of 2001 - inquiries from Equifax Consumer Direct, Equifax Consumer Service cp, and Equifax Consumer Service SP (all on same day). I just wanted to make sure that it was not factored into our scores. Dani
