I thought these guys fell of the end of the earth, but they appear to be still up to their tactics. You would think that with enough complaints that the government would have shut them down. OK so I get this offer in the mail,
    10,000 Gold Membership
    12% Interest
Send us the $37 annual fee and we'll give you the info package so you can see what a ripoff we are.

Well stupid enough, they have included a web address http://www.creditcorp.net and after submitting some artificial information signing up as a "non member visitor" I was able to browse their catalog and see the incredible deals. They have this camera there that's only $299 . . . you won't find it in any stores, because they were 2002 models and I found the same camera new old stock on E-Bay for $26.

Hmm . . . does CrediCorp sound like a deal I should agree too :) Even at my worst, I wasn't stupid enough to fall for something as silly as this.

Just wanted to let all the new people out here in CN world know to watch out for CrediCorp.

I did get a good laugh, thou.

I don't know what their current mailings/web site look like, but they used to tell you you would get a "gold credit card." Without using the words Visa or MasterCard they made it appear that it was one of them. Then, after you sent the money, you got a card that you could use to "charge" merchandise from their catalog. I put charge in quotes because you often had to pay a down payment that was at least equal to the value of the merchandise, if not more. So if you ever defaulted, they already recouped their costs plus some.

Many people said it was overpriced junk. I wouldn't know. As you said, even in my worst days I wouldn't have fallen for this. I had plenty of 24-30% cards!

"Don't worry if you have previously been turned down by Visa or MasterCard. The Credicorp Gold Card Membership carries esclusive benefits, a $10,000 credit limit, and best of all ChrisB you are PRE-APPROVED" They are more careful now referencing it as a "Gold Card Membership" not saying the words "Gold Credit Card"

It's still pretty slick, and I think if I had an IQ around 85 I might fall for it thinking I got a great credit offer.

I guess they're staying just slightly on the legal side of the line. But you're right. A lot of people will fall for it. Remember how many people here on CN thought it was a good deal and that we were being too "hard" on them?
