Hi. Does anyone know if its better to have bad accts or accts in dispute when going through a job background check? I have a couple of charge-offs I may not get removed on my credit and wanted to see if its better just to have in dispute? Thanks
This probably varies from employer to employer. From my life in the corporate world, my employer would contract with one of many background check vendors to screen potential employees. Basically we would provide a set of criteria that we wanted to see, and the vendor would filter out anyone who didn't meet that set. That being said, if I were the hiring manager, I really wouldn't care either way. My GUESS is that accounts in dispute would look a little better. To be honest I'm not sure why we ever reviewed the credit reports to begin with.
