I will be getting married soon and my credit is jacked up I have two chapter 13's that were dismissed thank's to my ex-wife would not help me pay and this happened in a 3 year period but my question is will this effect my future wife's credit in anyway she has very good credit Thanks PS And yall thought you had it bad
No - credit files are not linked after marriage. However, your bad credit will affect anything you want to do until it gets fixed. The best suggestion would be to use your wife's good credit and do lots of reading on the site to straighten out your file. Good luck!
Be careful! Don't jack up your wife's credit, too. This is exactly what happened to me! My husband's credit sucked when we got together. We bought our first house, I ended up paying off all of his and his ex girlfriend's judgements. To make a really long story short, he used my credit to buy furniture, 'yeah, I will have it paid off in 3 months'...I am now making payments to a collection company for it. Same with my credit card, his business was doing bad, we used my card to pay for things like his business ins, etc....again, I am making payments to a collection company. My middle credit score was 740 when we bought our house. He insisted on this and that, promised this and that. I have a job, I paid what I could and tried to pick up the slack when he couldn't. Just don't go out and buy things, be really careful...because before you know it, you will both have jacked up credit.
Oh yeah, been there. I even had a CA come after me and garnish my wages 3 years after I had been divorced for my ex's NEW bills.Talk about screwed! Took a month, but I got my wages back and the garnishment off, but it never ends. I am constantly picking other people's debts(usually my ex's) off my credit reports. I 'm not as nice and patient as I used to be. Could have sued them for that garnishment, but didn't know it back then.... Keep your credit your credit-I'd suggest staying away frm authorized user and joint accounts. I'm still trying to get rid of judgments on joint accounts where the card(my personal, originally) was maxed out by my then husband for his business.
