    Kay Jewelers denied.

My PG FAKO is 532 on TU (my worst). BK7 was 2 years ago. They could not have denied for any other reason, as my income, employment and residence history are fine.

That's interesting I was approved with the exact same score for both Kay (5000 cl) and Jared (6500 cl). I have a dismissed BK 13. I agree you should try PFB for reconsideration. Since I started this credit repair journey they have been the only approvals I've been able to get.

    Re: Wells Fargo Bank

Well, I spoke with the credit department at Wells Fargo Bank yesterday. I was informed with any type of a BK on anyone's record when applying for an unsecured card will be automatically declined regardless of any explanation. On the other hand, with a BK of one year in age will make you eligible for their secured card.

Well PFB was a yawn. After waiting a few days I received this reply. In short, NO & NO.

"Sorry but steady employment, good income and/or stable residency do not overcome failures to pay your debts. Kay Jewelers is not a high risk taking company, so a blemished credit rating is not a likely candidate for its extension of credit. A good payment history usually is a paramount concern for creditors. "

    Kay NOT BK FRIENDLY Jewelers

About six years post Chapter 13:

BoA declined even for a secured card! (TU ~680)
CrapOne approved for a MASSIVE $200 limit. (Pulled all three reports too!)

If you are on ChexSystems, Patelco will not let you open a savings account. Some over on Chexvictims say they couldn't get the card they were approved for due to not being able to "join" due to Chex. Just a friendly alert.

    Patelco

I called Patelco yesterday. They said they are not score driven, and would consider BK depending on time since and the establishment of new credit. Also they want to see no derogatory accounts since the BK. She also said that they only pull Experian.

Of course, that's just the words of one employee. I think I'll give it a shot anyway.

They pulled Exp 2 times.. first for the credit card next for the auto loan... none for the limit increase on the credit card...

    Three years post BK.

    Just approved for:
    Target Guest $200
    Zales $750
    Jareds ($unknown)
    Qwiktrip $300

    Denied with Chevron and Macys.

    So Far:

    Capitol One $2250
    Capitol One $300
    Orchard Bank $750
Exxon $100 (was $200 but they lowered my limit because my other balances were too high.)
    Dillards $1000
    Target Guest
    Zales
    Jareds
    Qwiktrip

I also applied for the Patelco Visa. Waiting to hear.

Also received a mortgage loan one year out of BK for $124000.

Approved for a Capitol One Auto Loan 14% but my current loan was 10% so I declined and wasted the hards.

I think this is it for now. I've built up some lines of credit and owe about $3000.00 on all of them combined (minus the mortgage of course). Will work on paying off this debt and see how my score climbs.

Currently my PG Fako is 679.

I'll wait until my debt is low to pull myfico scores.

Applied for National City with a BK. I asked for reconsideration and they will get back to me tomorrow hopefully. I'll post results here.

In the past I mention that World Financial were not BK friendly, well that has changed. One day I was at one of their store called the Avenue and the clerk said thy had a special that day and if I applied for credit I would get 30% off my purchases. Well I know it's stupid to apply for credit to get a discount but I was money strapped that day. Well guess what I was approved for a special program there is a $25 annual fee they gave me a $250 limit. Now I am not sure if they are doing this for any other stores.

    No BK here though

I'd like to give an update, 20 months post discharge, got the Diamond Shamrock, its a bit easier than how its listed now.

The other thing is, though some have recommended Patelco, I cannot stress enough how friendly this group is....

my highest unsecured was the 500 orchard, and a 200 target guest....then they come along with 3000 Visa approval.

they don't care about your bk, if you have a high income....now if you have no income and bad scores....that may not be enough, lol, but if you bring something to the party, they are great.

What were your scores when you applied? I checked their web site and it was unsure if you had to qualify for membership? One link said anyone could join, and another said you had to live in a certain area, or work for a particular employer.

I'm about 11 months past discharge and have really improved my scores. My dilemma is I only have three revolving cards, or which two are department stores and one is a secured Visa. Seems like one more bank card with a decent limit would be effective. This Patelco cards seems like the one.

    My scores are below:

    Experian 719
    Equifax 661
    Transunion 626

Do you think this will work with Patelco? Thanks!

ok, I have to ask, how did you get over 700 at 11 months post discharge?

You know what Poochie, I have know earthly idea <G>. I got two accounts deleted a couple of weeks ago and it pushed me from 653 to 719. What's sad is two accounts I had BK'd are still showing charged off with unpaid balances on Experian. Who knows how high it will go once these are corrected/deleted.

Probably the biggest factor in my scores climbing so much as I always had perfect credit, and I mean perfect. Also, a car loan, student loan, and two department store cards survived the BK. I have used/paid on time on each of these every month.

Seems like this FICO stuff is borderline rocket science, but I do consider myself lucky score-wise. The deletions really seem to be the key though. What's funny about all this is I have had three deletions on Equifax, including the enviable First USA, and that score is just 661. Go figure?
