credit card closure

    this is probably a dumb question! when you close out a credit card(pay off),does this mean you completely cancell this card? or simply just pay it off and it is still available.

    In most cases, you don't want to actually close the account. You want to pay off the balance and keep it open so you still have the credit available.

    this is what i would like to do,but I was getting a loan from my bank and they now pay for you and I believe that when payment goes it will close acct. My bank had me sign a closure paper to send to credit card and now I'm having second thoughts on this loan because I do not want to lose this credit card,I just want to pay it off. Any suggestions? I have a lot of debt.

    Sorry- you lost me a bit with your last post. What kind of loan or credit card are we talking about here? And are you saying that you're paying off the credit card with another loan from your bank?
