Low interest teaser rates w/balance transfers. Many other benefits, try buying a plane ticket w/o one. Try renting a car w/o one. I work with people who wouldn't use a credit card if I paid the bill for them...but come five days after payday, they have no money...

RE: Credit Card Debt on 60 Min It was about Credit Card Companies signing College students up for cards. No income required, all thats needed is a college ID. Companies pay the college millions to set up and sign up these kids. Kids get in over their heads, and have killed themselves or had to go bankrupt to get out of the debt. They count on parents to bail them out. Very sad!!!! Parents interviewed had no idea this was going on.

RE: Credit Card Debt on 60 Min Wow, what a story. I hope I never get that desparate. I remember being overwhelmed by the debt I racked up in college. I also remember thinking that I had a lifetime to pay it back. I think the creditors make a bad situation worse when the "hound" people. True, it's not free money. But if the person runs scared or kills themselves, you're still not getting paid.
