We recently had some credit card fraud on one of our credit cards while we were on vacation. We called the card company's fraud department, but they never sent anything saying that they recieved it. We're afraid that they are trying to take extra time so it will be over the number of days we're allowed to dispute a credit card claim. How many days are allowed to dispute a claim and what is the procedure? Also, the address that the claim is supposed to be sent to was a P.O. Box. Is it possible to get a return receipt from a P.O. Box address?
You have to send them a certified letter with receipt, so you have a proof. As for the time, i'm not sure, it's something like 60 days for billing errors and unlimited for frauds... Anyway, there is an excelent FAQ on credit cards on the news group misc.consumer... it's sort of hard to find on the web, so you'll have to dig a little for it
RE: Credit Card FAQ Its a pity you didn't grab the url to this FAQ. I attempted to find it on this newsgroup but was unable to access messages earlier than 5/30 where the FAQ must be.
RE: Credit Card FAQ I've hunted it down, downloaded it and made it available on my page... so you can see it at: http://netlabs.net/hp/sorin
RE: Credit Card FAQ THANKS I wonder if the author who wrote this in 94/95 could have ever imagined the practises of say a First USA or the sub-prime industry, sky-high fees or $200 Gold Cards. Still very factual and comprehensive nontheless.
