    Hi,

First time poster... though, I've used this board about one year ago to research on how to get my first credit card - by starting with a secure one (that's not actually reported as a secured one) and within 8 months I've got actually got a card from a major bank with an 8k credit limit, so I'm pretty much grateful to this board and its users! Thank you!

The confusing problem that I'm facing right now is that the card I've started with, from American Pacific Bank expired this month. APB merged this month or was bought by Riverview Bank. Riverview Bank sent me a letter in which stated they're gonna send a new card and not use the one from APB in case it hasn't expired yet. I've received a card from RB but also another one from APB, which is valid for one more year and also letters from APB about why I haven't activated their card yet....
Anybody has any simmilar business with APB or RB that knows what's going on there?

My question: The original and new/not_activated Card from APB has the same account #'s, the one from RB is different even though it said to replace my original card from APB.
How will this affect my credit histroy or my credit overall if, from what I see, it looks like I'm about to close my longest running credit card and start using this new one that has nothing to do with my previous card (ie acct #'s do not match)? I'm not sure at all how this works and I've also tried searching for something simmilar but couldn't find it.

Thanks in advance for any info!
